How to play
Snake rules
Choose Start, then steer with arrow keys, WASD, or the direction buttons. Eat fruit to grow by one segment and gain one point. Hitting a wall or your body ends the game. An immediate reverse turn is ignored. Pause and leaving the tab stop movement. The board is 12 × 12, and progress is saved only in this browser.
Start without an app installation
This Snake game runs in a phone browser. You do not need an app download, an account, or a paid game pack. The site does not include advertising code or AdSense. Optional analytics has its own consent preference and is described on the privacy page; no ads does not mean a promise that no technical information is ever processed by the hosting service.
The board has twelve rows and twelve columns. It remains stationary until you choose Start, so first find the direction controls, Pause, and New game. The head uses an arrow, the body fills cells, and food has its own symbol. Those cues help distinguish a direction request from a claim that a button will instantly move the head to a chosen destination.
Steer by steps rather than by a string of taps
The snake advances at its current heading between valid turns. Releasing a button does not stop it. A direction command requests a permitted turn; it is not an individual step that you can queue arbitrarily. If the head is moving right, a direct left command is ignored because it would turn straight into its neck.
To reverse your overall route, you need perpendicular turns with space to move between them. Pressing Up and then Left before the next advance does not necessarily execute two corners. The second command may still be checked against the rightward heading and rejected. Watch the first turn take effect before planning another tight turn near an edge.
Plan a way out after the food
Food adds one point and one body segment. Reaching it is not the end of the decision. Check where the head can go after growing, especially when the food sits near a wall or the route passes close to the body. A square that looked free several steps ago may no longer be available by the time you arrive.
For example, a route might approach food by turning up, advancing, and then turning right. Before following that idea, inspect the square beyond the food and the space needed for the next legal turn. This is a planning example, not a fixed route for every generated position. Your current head, body, and food determine which moves remain safe.
Pause deliberately before another phone task
The snake continues even when your finger leaves the screen. Use Pause to stop and hide the board; Continue lets you return. The game also pauses when the tab is hidden, but checking the state on return is still useful. A restored in-progress game is paused so it does not demand an immediate steering reaction as soon as the page opens.
New game is a different action. It asks for confirmation before replacing this Snake round. Cancel keeps the current state; confirm prepares another board without starting movement automatically. You do not need to reset a round simply to take a moment away, and restarting Snake does not require clearing the other games’ saved progress.
Understand local saving and its limits
When browser storage is available, the game saves on this device. It does not transfer progress from a phone to a computer or create a cloud profile. Clearing site data can remove the save. A screenshot records how a position looked but is not an importable recovery file that recreates the same body and food state automatically.
If storage is blocked, a notice explains that you can keep playing but will lose the round when leaving. The game does not request an email or identity document to solve that restriction. You can decline optional analytics and continue using the controls; that choice is separate from the local game data needed to resume a saved board.
Other inputs do not change the rules
With an attached keyboard, use arrow keys or WASD while focus is in the game. Enter or Space starts or pauses when the board itself is focused, and Escape pauses. The visible buttons retain normal Tab and Enter or Space activation. Text describes heading, position, and food, but the continuously moving board is not claimed to provide complete nonvisual accessibility on every device.
There is no speed selector or wall-wrapping mode in this version. Hitting a wall or the body ends the round. The guide explains a specific route and checks an exit after the food. The practical phone experience is a clear command, a visible resulting step, and a pause when needed, without promising a score, a round length, or a personal performance benefit.
