How to play
Memory Match rules
Turn over two cards to find a matching symbol pair. Matching cards stay revealed. If they differ, look as long as you like, then select Hide these cards before choosing again. Every pair of flips counts as one attempt. Find all eight pairs to complete the 4 × 4 board. Pause hides the board. The game saves only in this browser.
Choose a turn-based break rather than a reaction test
The board contains sixteen cards and eight pairs. Choose one card, then a second position to compare their symbols. If they do not match, they remain visible until you select Hide these cards. That manual step gives you control over when to continue. It does not promise that every round will take five minutes or suit every interruption.
The game runs in your browser without an installation or account. It is offered as an activity you can choose, not a measured way to improve workplace productivity or wellbeing. The site has not tested those outcomes for this game. A break is still your decision; there is no daily quota of pairs or a requirement to finish before returning to another task.
Use information from one known position
You can reveal an unknown card to learn its symbol. If a matching symbol later appears and you remember the first position, return to that known card instead of opening another at random. This is a concrete decision within the round. You do not need to memorize all sixteen locations before one remembered relationship becomes useful.
The four-by-four arrangement lets you describe a position by row and column, or by a simple reference such as upper left. Matched pairs remain revealed and no longer take part in new attempts. The remaining unknown cards are the ones still worth connecting. A location from a previous shuffled round is not information about the board currently open.
Pause when another task needs you
Pause hides the board, and Continue restores it. The action does not shuffle the cards or create a new round. If two unmatched cards were waiting to be closed, that observation phase remains part of the state you return to. Check the visible status before choosing another card rather than assuming that an automatic timer has already handled it.
New game is a different control and asks for confirmation before replacing this Memory Match round. Cancel keeps the current game. You do not need to clear a board simply to step away from the device. Nor do you need to finish all eight pairs before a break is allowed to end; an incomplete round is an acceptable place to stop.
Keep the attempt counter in perspective
One attempt is counted when you select the second card. A matching pair and two different symbols both count as an attempt; the first card on its own does not add another. The total describes actions in this round. It is not a measure of professional performance, a memory percentage, or a clinical score simply because it appears beside a game.
Two rounds can provide different opportunities. A lucky match and a return to a deliberately remembered card have different explanations, even though both end with a pair. If you want to review your decision, name the information you used. Comparing only totals can attribute a change to a personal ability when the shuffled arrangement and earlier information also changed.
Understand what remains on this device
Browser storage can save the round on the current device. It does not synchronize a work computer with a phone or create an employee profile. If storage is blocked, a notice explains that you can keep playing but will lose this state when leaving. Clearing site data can remove saved progress as well, so a screenshot is not an automatic recovery file.
Optional analytics has a separate choice described in Privacy. You do not need to enter a name, email, employer, or a description of another task to use the board. Declining analytics does not prevent play. Limited game events collected with consent are not automatically valid measures of productivity, mood, or the broader effects of a work break.
Finish without chasing another round
You can stop after one pair or pause with several still unresolved. There is no countdown pressuring you to observe faster and no promised feeling that a completion must produce. If you prefer continuous movement on another occasion, Snake is a different format; if discrete choices are useful now, this board preserves that distinction rather than claiming every game has the same break length.
The guide explains when a known card is useful and when you do not yet have that information. It uses a constructed example, not a worker’s private round or evidence of workplace outcomes. Treat the game as a break option and keep the result you can observe on the board separate from benefits outside it that have not been established.
